Fells - Snowdon International & Moel Siabod

A handful of SAC athletes competed over the fells this weekend in Snowdonia.

In the Snowdon International Fell Race 3 club runners lined up alongside the 500 hardy runners to tackle the 10mile route from Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon, before the technical descent back down.
Anna Bartlett, wearing the international colours of Wales finished with a time of 1:29:09 for 7th female finisher, 75th overall.

Evergreen club member Gordon Trevor celebrated his 60th birthday by racing, and finished in 17th place in his debut in the M60 category for 392th overall, 2:13:05 his finishing time.

Leo Murray finished with a time of 1:49:50, for 269th place.

Just down the A5, in Capel Curig, a further 4 SAC members were in action in the 6mile Moel Siabod fell race.
A late decision by the organisers provided a twist, by adding a river crossing to further take the toll on tired legs.
Club captain Graham Jones flew the flag with a 6th place finish to take the M50 top prize, leading home Kev Francis 10th, and Paul Clarke18th.

Jones - 59:33
Francis - 61:34
Clarke - 62:44

In the Junior race, Ross Kirby finished the 2mile route in 8th place, 5th in U12 category, proving again to be a consistent performer in his first season over the hills.

Many thanks to Eddie Austrum for arranging accomodation for the travelling SAC members.

Midland League, 3rd Meeting at Stourport

Shrewsbury Men and Ladies produced another good set of performances at Stourport, with the Shrewsbury Men winning for the 3rd time, only to pipped into 2nd Place by 22 points, by home team Kidderminster and Stourport.

This means that Shrewsbury must win (or finish above K&S to win the division), but we are all but certain to gain promotion.

We need everybody at the next meeting, to produce a big finish on the end of an excellent season.
Lots of good performances again,
Results are link below, well done to everybody. Thanks to helpers and officials too.
