Seniors Extend lead of Divison 4
Shrewsbury Athletic Club’s Senior Track and Field Team extended their lead in the Midland League division 5, thanks to their second victory last weekend at Corby. Shrewsbury started the day well with Hannah Bridgwater and Anna Kelly competing well in the long jump. This was followed by Andrew Jones and Sam Edwards winning the male events, with triple Jumpers Ryan Kelly and Fae Lester gaining valuable additional points. The female team was boosted by the inclusion of last month’s 400m British University bronze medallist Emma Pullen, who won the 800m followed by the 200m. Claire Burgyone won the 400m Hurdles with Amanda Cook winning the sprint hurdles. This was repeated with Andrew Beeston and Matthew Brown winning the men’s hurdles. The sole distance runner for the club was Tim Pillow, finishing 4th in the 3km. The throwing events were dominated by Shrewsbury Athletes, with Elaine Jebb, Pat Higgins, Zoe Green and Kirsten Brown along with Simon Brown, Jason Green and Peter Duckers all competing well on the day. Additionally Shrewsbury won both sprint relays, with strong legs from Jo Brooke, Beckie Houston and Nick Morgan and Andrew Jones.
