SAC Running Report 12/6/11
Shrewsbury Athletic Club’s Kevin Francis has been enjoying his most
successful season to date, leading the side home in the most recent
events on the local road and fell running calendar. In the Shropshire 4
Mile Race, the third race in the Telford Sexarathon Series, he finished
in 16th place in 23/25 and 2nd in the Veteran over 45 category, while
in the Batch Bash Fell Race in All Stretton, the third in the Summer
Fell Series, he was once again first home for the club, in 6th place in
30/55 and 3rd in the Veteran over 45 category.

At Telford, the fast improving Claire Burgoyne was next home for the
club in 25th place in 23/57, another personal best performance by over
2 minutes and an improvement of some 15 places, achieving 1st in the
Senior Female category. At All Stretton, club captain Graham Jones
edged out club rival Steve Turk for the first time this season, the duo
finishing 9th and 10th in 31/32 and 31/40 respectively.
Aspiring junior fell runner, Ross Kirby, has had a string of successes
on the local and Welsh fell running scene. He achieved 1st place in a
Snowdon Junior Fell Series Race at Carneddau, then followed that with
1st under 14 runner in the Batch Bash junior race and then teamed up
with club captain Graham Jones to win the team competition at the
recent Gogbatch Gallop race at Church Stretton.
