Shropshire Sportshall Championships


An encouraging number of young athletes from Shrewsbury AC competed in the Shropshire Sportshall Championships at Wenlock Leisure Centre and came back with a large collection of medals.

Many of the athletes won more than one medal with pride of place going to Jessica Clarkson who won three gold medals in the Under 11 Girls age group and Under 13 Hollie Williamson who won two golds and one silver medal.

Results were as follows:

Under 11 Girls: Jessica Clarkson – 1st 4 Laps, Standing Long Jump and Soft Javelin. Francesca Scott – 2nd 2 Laps Hurdles and 2 Laps.

Eleanor Fox – 3rd 2 Laps Hurdles, 4th 2 laps. Emily Armstrong – 3rd 4 Laps. Emily Carter – 4th 2 Laps Hurdles.

Under 11 Boys: Jack Hall – 2nd Soft Javelin, 3rd 2 Lap Hurdles.

Under 13 Girls: Hollie Williamson – 1st 2 Laps and Standing Long Jump,

2nd Vertical Jump. Sally Joyce – 1st 3 Laps and 5 Laps, 3rd Vertical Jump.

Amy Bickle – 1st Vertical Jump, 3rd 2 Laps. Jordan Hall – 2nd Shot, 4th 2 Laps.

SAC athletes receive County Call Ups

10 Club athletes have been invited to represent Shropshire County in this weekends McCain Cross Country Challenge (incorporating Inter County XC Championships) at Cofton Park, Birmingham.

The event is being screened live on Sky Sports 3 from 11am.
