SAC Running Report 10/6/12

The Summer series of Road and Fell races are now in full swing and
Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners have been in regular competition, but
this season, the senior and veteran runners have found themselves
being challenged by the Club's junior stars.

In the Telford Sexarathon Road Race Series,Tim Smith lead the side home
in the Phoenix Flyer 5K and Shropshire 4 Mile races, with 28th and 24th
placings respectively and is currently 4th in the Veteran over 40
category for the Series, with Steve Waters always in close contention
in 29th place in both events.

In the Summer Fell Race Series, Dan Croft and Steve Turk have been in
close competition, finishing in 7th and 8th placings respectively at
the Caradoc Classic race, with up and coming junior Ross Kirby 30th and
1st Male Under 16. However at the Batch Bash race, they were edged out
by the Club's junior fell star, Ben Ashcroft, who made an instant
impression in his first senior fell race, finishing 5th and 1st Male
under 16, with Dan and Steve 9th and 10th. The juniors were also ably
represented by Ross Kirby and Stuart Duff, who finished in 36th and
77th places.

In the Sheinton Steeplechase, it was Dom Kirby's turn to lead the side
home in 5th place, with Steve Turk 8th and 1st Veteran over 40, Ross
Kirby 13th and 2nd Male Under 16 and Tim Smith 14th and 3rd Veteran
over 40.

Steve Waters excelled in the popular Market Drayton 10K, finishing 40th
in 38/50 in a field of almost 1000 runners.

Severn Loop 5km Race - Friday 15th June 2012

Entries are coming in for the Severn Loop 5km race which takes place in the Quarry Park, Shrewsbury on Friday 15th June (Juniors 6:45pm/Seniors 7:30pm). Come along and record a PB on one of the fastest 5km courses in the midlands. Runners of all abilities are welcome at this race which follows the loop of the River Severn as it meanders around the outskirts of Shrewsbury.
