Farmageddon 5 Race Report

25 Apr 2016

On Saturday 21st November 2015 Shrewsbury Athletic Club staged their brand new race, the Walford Farmageddon 5, held in partnership with Walford and North Shropshire College, around the picturesque grounds of Walford College near Baschurch. The inaugural race attracted a cross section of unattached and club runners, who completed the approximate 5 mile multi-terrain course of trail, open pasture and woodland, made more challenging by the recent rain, including a stream crossing. Designed in conjunction with Walford College's Sports Maker, Benji Evans, the course will now become the venue for a  North Wales Cross Country League fixture, hosted by the Shrewsbury club, on January 16th 2016

The Mens' race was won by Ross Campbell of Highland Hill Runners, who lead from the start, finishing in 30mins 59secs, with Shrewsbury Athletic Club's Pete Middleton second in 31min 56secs and Neil O' Hanlon, third in 32mins 34secs. The Womens' race was won by Kim Fawke of  Lawley Running Club in 36mins 09secs, with Shrewsbury Athletic Club's Anna Bartlett second in 38mins 27secs and Victoria Whitehead of Denbigh Harriers, third in 41mins 41secs.
