The Telford Sexarathon Series has continued with the second and third fixtures, the Phoenix Flyer 5K and Shropshire 4 Mile races. Jamie Lambie continued his successful first season in the Series, leading a squad of 12 home in both races, with the first 7 Club runners finishing in the same order in each race. There were age category victories for Kevin Francis, 1st Veteran Over 50 in the Shropshire 4, while Pete Savill maintained his challenge for the Veteran Over 65 title for the Series with 1st V65 in both races. Naomi Cook finished 23rd in the Phoenix Flyer Women's Race.

9 Jamie Lambie 21/40, 11 Jim Hickinbottom 21/45(3rd V35), 18 Ollie Parry 22/15, 19 Jake Milovsorov 22/37, 34 Carl Aveyard 23/17, 38 Stewart Farley 23/55, 41 Kevin Francis 24/23(1st V50), 57 Grant Lloyd 25/29, 69 Simon Cole 26/03, 84 Haydn Jones 26/36(3rd V55), 93 Pete Savill 27/01(1st V65), 113 Chris Wakeman 28/01(3rd V60).

 

In other road races, Jamie Lambie was again at the forefront in the Abersoch 10K, finishing 3rd in 34/26, with Scott Hall 7th in 35/57, Richard Mckenna 13th and 3rd Veteran Over 40 in 36/40 and Stewart Farley 20th in 39/06. In the Park Hall 5K, Calvin Hignett led the side home in 4th place in a personal best time of 16/50, with Robert Fox 7th in 17/21, Steve Waters 8th in 17/27 and Connor Middleton 11th in 18/01. Grace Hough finished 53rd in the Women's race in 34/35 and 2nd Lady Veteran Over 65.

 

Away from the road running scene, the Shropshire Hills Summer Series continued with the Wrekin Streak and Rodney's Pillar races. Stuart Proctor finished 22nd in the Wrekin Streak in 22/34 with Gill Evans 78th in 29/48 and 2nd Lady Over 55. In the Rodney's Pillar race, Will Preston was 16th in 26/19, Stuart Proctor 26th in 27/27 and Gill Evans 91st in 35/04, 1st Lady Veteran Over 55 and currently leading in her age category at the half way point in the Series. Two of the Club's young fell runners were in action in the Junior Wrekin Streak Race, Adam Bentham finishing 1st and Zach Mckenna 4th.

 

Andy Lewis finished 8th in the 1500m in the Midland Masters Track and Field Championships at Nuneaton in 5/46.67 in his first track race in preparation for the World Transplant Games at Gateshead at the end of August, where he is hoping to retain his 1500m title and improve on his Games age group record for the distance.
