Shrewsbury Athletic Club's Jamie Lambie was the winner of this year's Mercedes Benz of Shrewsbury 10K Race, improving by 8 places and three and a half minutes on last year's race to take the title after a very closely contested race with Notts AC's Patrick Townsend, with just one second separating the two athletes at the finish. The route of the race this year took the 2000 runners through the historic grounds of Shrewsbury School and included a spectator cheer zone, with six of the Club runners finishing in the top ten places. Pete Middleton was 1st Veteran Over 35 and Kevin Francis 1st Veteran Over 50. There were personal best times for husband and wife Pete and Jenna Middleton, with a top ten placing for Jenna in the Women's race.

The Club's men and women runners were in action in the Intercounties Cross Country Championships at Loughborough, Matt Hall finishing 93rd in 42/29, representing Shropshire and Robert Fox finishing 267th in 48/27 representing North Wales. Five of the Club's top women runners were part of the Shropshire team that finished 23rd in the Womens' race, Sara Willhoit leading the side home in 53rd place in 48/29, Lauren Morley 198th in 55/54, Emily Sanders 211th in 57/17, Jemma Brown 218th in 57/30 and Naomi Cook 245th in 61/31.

 

In other events, Richard Mckenna finished 5th and 2nd Veteran Over 40 in the Wrexham 20 Mile race in 1/56/47, a personal best time by over 6 minutes, with Carl Aveyard 13th in 2/04/24 and Thomas Richards 14th in 2/07/14.There were podium spots for father and son Pete and Luke Butler in the 10 Mile race, with Luke 3rd in 57/39 and Pete 1st Veteran Over 60 in 20th place in 78/17. Connor Middleton was 30th in the Carding Mill Canter in 52/53, with Gill Evans 91st in 66/45 and Colin Perry was 23rd and 3rd Veteran Over 40 in the Cannock Chase 10 Mile race in 77/07. There was a bronze medal for the Club team of Robert Fox, Graham Jones and Chris Wakeman at the British Masters Cross Country Championships at Corwen.
