Shrewsbury Athletic Club athletes have competed in the Harper Scarper 5K Race, the final fixture in the Telford Sexarathon Series, where the side were led home by Matt Hall in 6th place in 16/02, with James Hickinbottom 11th in 16/15 and 1st Veteran Over 35, Matt Wooden 36th in his first Sexarathon race for the Club in a personal best time of 18/26, Haydn Jones was 59th in 19/34 and Simon Cole 73rd in 20/14, also in his first Sexarathon race for the Club. Versatile veteran Gill Evans was 2nd Lady Veteran Over 55 on the night but won the age category crown for the Series to add to the Over 55 crown she won in the Shropshire Summer Hill Race Series.

 

Sara Willhoit finished 2nd in the Women's race and 26th overall in the Ellesmere 10K Race in a season's best time of 38/45, with Haydn Jones 55th in 41/28, Pete Hughes 74th in 43/23 and Chris Hedley 148th in 46/25. In the Ellerdine Effort 5K Race, Luke Butler finished 13th in 16/48, just two seconds outside his personal best, with Stewart Farley 25th in a personal best time of 18/03 and 3rd Veteran Over 35. Two Club runners competed in the Stretton Skyline, Connor Middleton 15th in 3/17/04 and Simon Cole 30th in 3/37/00.

 

The young Club athletes were out in force at the recent Telford Games, with many successes and four Games records. There were individual victories for the following: U11 Girls 150m Bridget Williams 22.94, U11 Boys Raphael Carson 60m 8.7(equals Games Record), 150m 21.56, Howler Throw 38.13m(New Games Record), Under 13 Boys Adam Edwards 200m 27.96, 800m 2/22/03, Under 15 Girls 75m Hurdles Chloe Speake 12.61, Under 17 Women 3000m Jess Gunner 10/58(New Games Record), Under 17 Women High Jump Rebecca Walker 1.60m, Under 17 Men Louis Schofield High Jump 1.65m, Long Jump 6.04m, Under 17 Men Triple Jump Bradley Davies-Pughe 12.47m.

 

Pat Higgins won the Veteran Women's Hammer Throw at the Telford Games with a New Games Record throw of 24.42m, following on from a bronze medal in the Women's Veteran Over 60 category for the Hammer Throw, 24.21m and the Weight Throw, 9.54m at the British Masters Athletics Federation Open Track and Field Championships in Birmingham.
