The breaking of Shrewsbury Athletic Club records by Club athletes continued when three runners travelled to the USA to compete in the Boston Marathon, with Sara Willhoit smashing the Club Women's Marathon record just three weeks after breaking the Club Women's Half Marathon record. She took 8 minutes off the previous Marathon record set just one week earlier by Club colleague Sue Siddi, finishing 92nd out of almost 12,000 runners in the Women's Race in a time of 2/53/49. There were impressive performances by Pete Middleton, 526th out of 27,000 finishers in 2/43/13 and Rachel Parker, 321st Woman in 3/06/25.

 

The Telford Sexarathon Road Race Series opened with the Lilleshall 5 Mile Race, with eleven Club runners among the record field of 450, Jim Hickinbottom leading a squad which returned four personal best times for Ollie Parry, Jamie Lambie, Jake Milovsorov and Stewart Farley and age category successes for Kevin Francis, 1st Veteran Over 50, Pete Savill, 1st Veteran Over 65 and Chris Wakeman, 3rd Veteran Over 60.

6 Jim Hickinbottom 27/26, 11 Ollie Parry 27/58(PB), 12 Jamie Lambie 28/17(PB), 14 Jake Milovsorov 28/42(PB), 20 Carl Aveyard 29/00, 34 Stewart Farley 30/16(PB), 36 Kevin Francis 30/20(1st Veteran Over 50), 66 Haydn Jones 32/47, 69 Grant Lloyd 32/59, 88 Pete Savill 34/16(1st Veteran Over 65), 103 Chris Wakeman 35/15(3rd Veteran Over 60).

 

There was double success for Club runners at the Chocoholics 5K Race in Newtown, with Matt Hall 1st in 15/47, his second road race victory in 9 days and Paul Jones 2nd and 1st Veteran Over 45 in 16/13. Haydn Jones finished 18th in 19/42, Gill Evans 65th and 3rd Lady Veteran Over 55 in 23/34 and Grace Hough 131st and 3rd Lady Veteran Over 65 in 36/29.

 

The Club's young athletes were out in force at the Telford Athletic Club Spring Warm Up Track and Field Meeting, with a number of individual successes and podium places for the following: U11: 75m Hugh Allwood 2nd 11.7, U13 and Above: 100m Race 1 Reuben Green(U13) 1st 14.2, Race 3 Madeleine Aiston(U15) 2nd 13.4, Maddie Parsons(U15) 3rd 13.6, Race 4 Isabelle Jagielka(U17) 3rd 13.7, Race 6 Kati Hulme(U20) 2nd 13.6, 800m Race 1 Freddie All wood (U13) 2nd 2/45.4, Race 2 Jack Margerison(U15) 3rd 2/25.2.
