Shrewsbury Athletic Club runners have made a successful start to their campaign in their second year in the North Staffordshire Cross Country League, at Winsford, Cheshire on Saturday. After finishing second and securing promotion to Division 1 in their first season last year, the Men's team of six stormed to 2nd place out of the ten teams, spearheaded by Matt Hall, who was just edged into 4th place, looking to match his 3rd Individual Male runner for the Series which he achieved last year. He was followed by James Hickinbottom in 10th place and Steve Waters in 20th place, with Rob Fox 24th, Carl Aveyard 31st and Richard Mckenna 38th, making up the team scorers. Pete Savill, last year's 1st Veteran Over 60, competed, finishing 216th, despite an ongoing battle with an achilles problem. Zac Mckenna finished 15th in the Under 11 Boys' Race in 9/08.

In the Women's Race, Naomi Cook impressed in 33rd place in her first cross country for the Club in 23/41, with Grace Hough 217th in 42/45.
